Dhaka: Leaders of the eight-party alliance today declared that all political parties within the coalition, including Bangladesh Jamaat-E-Islami and Islami Andolon Bangladesh, will stage a nationwide sit-in on November 13. The action aims to resist what they term as fascist forces and their acts of sabotage and conspiracy.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Jamaat-e-Islami's Nayeb-e-Ameer Professor Mujibur Rahman announced the initiative on behalf of the alliance during a joint press conference at the Al-Falah Auditorium in Moghbazar. The declaration sets the tone for their next course of action amidst escalating political tensions.
Jamaat-e-Islami Secretary General Mia Golam Parwar highlighted that the current political climate has become increasingly tense, with alleged conspiracies aiming to create unrest in the capital. He cited incidents such as arson attacks on buses, the throwing of cocktails, and unusual activities in city hotels as evidence of a broader plot to destabilize the nation.
The eight-party leaders expressed their willingness to cooperate with the government to maintain peace and stability. They urged the authorities to engage in dialogue to find a peaceful political solution, emphasizing that the alliance prioritizes dialogue to reach a democratic resolution. However, they are prepared to continue with peaceful protests if necessary.
Professor Mujibur Rahman outlined the next phase of their programme, announcing demonstrations across the country on Friday, November 14, at district and metropolitan levels. These protests will support the alliance's five-point demand, which includes issuing a constitutional order to implement the July National Charter and holding a referendum before the upcoming national election.
He further stated that the top leaders of the eight-party alliance will convene again on Sunday, November 16, at 11:00 a.m., with a press conference scheduled for 12:30 p.m. at the same venue. Mujibur Rahman warned that if the people's five-point demand is not met before Sunday's meeting, the alliance will announce an indefinite sit-in in front of the Chief Adviser's Office.
The press conference was attended by Islami Andolan Bangladesh Secretary General Principal Yunus Ahmad, Bangladesh Khelafat Majlish Secretary General Maulana Jalaluddin Ahmad, Bangladesh Nezame Islam Party leader Sarwar Kamal Azizi, Khelafat Majlish Ameer Maulana Abul Bashar Azad, and JAGPA Vice-President Engineer Rashed Pradhan.
