Jeddah: A total of 79,164 Bangladeshi Hajj pilgrims have reached Saudi Arabia in 201 Hajj flights. Director of the Bangladesh Hajj Office Md Lokman Hossain stated that 201 flights from Dhaka landed in Jeddah till yesterday.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, 24 pilgrims died due to poor health conditions till yesterday. Of them, 17 are male and seven female. Fifteen pilgrims died in Makkah and nine in Madinah. Meanwhile, a special meeting on logistics and other facilities was held with representatives of Hajj guides and Maktabs in Arafah and Mina. Religious Affairs Secretary Munshi Alauddin Al Azad chaired the meeting, while Religious Affairs Minister Kazi Shah Mofazzal Hossain Kaikobad was present as the chief guest and Shamim Kaiser Lincon as the special guest. The meeting discussed in detail the overall Hajj management, including transportation arrangements to Mina and Arafah, food supply, accommodation, and medical services during the Hajj days.
It was reported that the Saudi medical team provided automatic treatment facilities to 44,831 pilgrims, while the IT Helpdesk gave medical services to 20,987 pilgrims till yesterday. A total of 78,500 people from Bangladesh have been allowed to perform Hajj this year, with 660 agencies handling Hajj operations under private management, including 30 lead agencies and 630 coordinating agencies.
Airline-wise data shows that 38,702 pilgrims arrived in 98 flights of Biman Bangladesh Airlines, 27,340 in 73 flights of Saudi Airlines, and 12,157 pilgrims on 30 flights of Flynas Airlines. Prime Minister Tarique Rahman inaugurated this year’s Hajj flight on April 17. Of the total pilgrims, 4,564 reached Saudi Arabia under government management, 73,926 under private arrangements, and 774 representatives from various organizations, according to Hajj office information.
The holy Hajj will be observed in Saudi Arabia on May 26. Pilgrims will start returning home from May 30, with the last return Hajj flight scheduled for June 30.
