Naogaon: A total of 70,100 hectares of land will be brought under mustard cultivation in 11 upazilas of the district in the current Rabi season. According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) has detailed the allocation of land for mustard cultivation across the upazilas. Sadar upazila will have 4,380 hectares, Raninagar 7,240 hectares, Atrai 6,765 hectares, Badalgachhi 3,390 hectares, Mohadevpur 4,250 hectares, Patnitala 6,920 hectares, Dhamoirhat 5,550 hectares, Sapahar 6,710 hectares, Porsha 8,230 hectares, Manda 8,215 hectares, and Niamatpur 8,450 hectares dedicated to this crop. The mustard production target has been set at 1 lakh 17 thousand 67 tonnes. In an effort to boost farmer participation in mustard cultivation, the district has seen a significant increase in incentive support and the number of beneficiaries. Deputy Director of the Department of Agricultural Extension, agronomist Abul Kalam Azad, confirmed that 57,000 small and marginal farmers have alre ady received government incentives, which include 1 kg of seeds, 10 kg of Muriate of Potash (MoP) fertilizer, and 10 kg of Di-ammonium Phosphate (DAP) fertilizer, provided free of cost for each bigha of land.
