68,768 Students Awarded Scholarships in Junior and Dakhil 8th Examinations

Dhaka: The results of the Junior Scholarship Examination 2025 for Class VIII, Madrasa Dakhil Class VIII, Ebtedayi Class V, and Technical JS and JD (Vocational) Scholarship Examinations under the nine general education boards have been published. A total of 68,768 students from the general, madrasa, and technical education boards have received scholarships. Education, Primary and Mass Education Minister Dr ANM Ehsanul Hoque Milon formally inaugurated the publication of the scholarship results at a press conference held at the Ministry of Education at the Secretariat this afternoon.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, State Minister for Education, Primary and Mass Education Bobby Hajjaj announced the details of the scholarships at the press conference. He stated that out of the total recipients, 46,200 students are being awarded these scholarships under nine general education boards, with 14,700 receiving merit scholarships and 31,500 receiving general scholarships. Additionally, 22,568 madrasa students will be granted scholarships across various grades, including the Ebtedayi 5th grade, Dakhil 8th grade, and JS and JD (vocational) levels.



Bobby Hajjaj emphasized that the scholarship serves as recognition of the students’ talent and hard work, identifying them as future leaders. He encouraged those who did not receive scholarships to remain hopeful, as continued hard work could lead to future success. He also expressed gratitude to teachers and parents for their support in the students’ achievements.



The scholarships from the General Education Board include a monthly grant of Taka 450 and a one-time annual grant of Taka 560 for merit recipients, while general scholarship recipients will receive Taka 300 monthly and Taka 350 annually. For madrasa students, the scholarships amount to Taka 600 for merit recipients and Taka 450 for general recipients.



A total of 315,160 students participated in the Junior Scholarship Examination under nine general education boards. For the madrasa education board, 63,930 students took part in the Ebtedayi 5th class and 43,709 in the Dakhil 8th class, while 2,611 students participated in the JS and JD (Vocational) examinations under the Technical Education Board.



Analysis of board-wise results shows that the highest number of scholarships was awarded to 11,384 students from the Dhaka Board, with 3,622 receiving merit scholarships and 7,762 receiving general scholarships. Other boards also saw significant numbers of scholarship recipients, including 6,027 in Rajshahi, 5,252 in Cumilla, 5,205 in Jashore, 5,691 in Dinajpur, 3,857 in Chattogram, 3,017 in Sylhet, 3,032 in Mymensingh, and 2,735 in Barisal Board.



The scholarship exam was conducted nationwide from December 28, 2025, to January 5, 2026, with assessments based on 400 marks across five subjects in the General Education Board. Bobby Hajjaj mentioned that the government plans to introduce more initiatives to support students and enhance the quality of education.
