Dhaka: The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested 629 people and filed 50 cases during its regular anti-crime operations across the capital in the past 24 hours. The extensive operation aimed to curb criminal activities and improve public safety.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the arrests were made by different divisions of the DMP. The Ramna Division detained 40 individuals, Lalbagh 42, Wari 65, Motijheel 68, Tejgaon 95, Mirpur 203, Gulshan 55, Uttara 49, and 12 were detained by the Detective Branch (DB). A press release detailed these figures, emphasizing the scale of the operation.
During the operations, police recovered various illegal items including 7.965 kg of cannabis, 211 yaba tablets, 106 grams of heroin, a foreign-made pistol, a shotgun, an air gun, one round of ammunition, a magazine, a spent cartridge, 32 Redball cartridges, and 55 mobile phones. Additionally, seven pieces of foil paper, three gas lighters, a bottle of alcohol, a CNG-powered auto-rickshaw, three motorcycles, four knives, two steel blades, a machete, and Tk 18,220 in cash were confiscated.
Legal proceedings against the arrested individuals are underway, as authorities continue their efforts to maintain law and order in the city.
