Chattogram: Police have seized a significant quantity of narcotics, including 62,721 pieces of contraband yaba tablets, in the last 24 hours during a special anti-narcotics operation across 11 districts of the Chattogram Range. During the operation, 237 individuals were arrested on drug-related charges. The Chattogram Range Police announced the results of the 24-hour operation on Sunday.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Range DIG Abdul Quddus Chowdhury reported that, in addition to the yaba tablets, authorities recovered 24 kg 942 grams of marijuana, 57 liters of liquor, 8 bottles of schoff syrup, and 12 bottles of foreign liquor. The operation also led to the recovery of Taka 4,200 worth of drug sales.
Among those arrested, 85 were identified as drug dealers, two as transporters, and 150 as drug addicts. In total, 65 cases have been filed related to this incident. Furthermore, 108 individuals have been sentenced to various terms of imprisonment through mobile courts, and a fine of Tk 36,900 has been collected from them.
