Dhaka: The government has appointed new Deputy Commissioners (DCs) to six districts, while DCs of Khulna, Patuakhali, and Kurigram were transferred to different districts. The Ministry of Public Administration issued a gazette notification in this regard today. The appointments will come into effect immediately. “These BCS (admin) cadre officials will perform their duties as Deputy Commissioners and District Magistrates,” the notification added.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, under the new appointment, Deputy Secretaries (DSs) of the Environment, Forest, and Climate Change Ministry Dr. Mohammad Shaheed Hossain Chowdhury has been posted as the DC of Patuakhali, while the DC of Patuakhali, Abu Hasnat Mohammad Arefin, has been transferred to Kushtia district.
The notification further stated that Sifat Mehnaj, DC of Meherpur, was transferred to Kurigram as DC and District Magistrate, while Dr. Mohammad Abdul Salam, Deputy Secretary of the Home Affairs Ministry, was made DC of Meherpur district.
Additionally, Mohammad Abdullah Al Mahmood Zaman, a deputy secretary and zonal settlement officer in the land record and survey department in Dhaka, was appointed as DC of Netrokona. Md Towfiqur Rahman, DC of Kushtia, was posted to Khulna as DC and District Magistrate.
