Dhaka: The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) on Wednesday arrested 529 people in its regular anti-crime drives across the capital and filed 30 cases.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, those arrested included 35 from Ramna Division, 39 from Lalbagh Division, 83 from Wari Division, 53 from Motijheel Division, 67 from Tejgaon Division, 133 from Mirpur Division, 56 from Gulshan Division, 54 from Uttara Division, eight by the Detective Branch (DB), and one by the Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit.
During the drives, police seized 100 grams of cannabis, 367 yaba tablets, two foreign-made pistols, three magazines, seven rounds of ammunition, six mobile phones, and a switchgear knife. Additionally, police also rescued one victim.
The arrests were made during raids conducted in different police station areas across the capital as part of DMP's ongoing anti-crime operations. Legal proceedings against the arrested individuals are underway.
