Patuakhali: A total of 500 kg of carp fish fry has been released into various water bodies in Bauphal upazila as part of the Climate Smart Agriculture and Water Management Project. Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Md Aminul Islam inaugurated the program at the upazila parishad premises on Monday afternoon.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the event was presided over by Upazila Senior Fisheries Officer MM Parvez. Project-related officials, public representatives, and local fishermen attended the occasion. The initiative saw the release of fish fry across several locations: 200 kg were introduced into the canal adjacent to Bauphal Hosnabad Daspara (municipality), 160 kg in the canal near Sultanabad Madrasa (Nazirpur), and 140 kg in the canal at Kalaiya adjacent to Bagi Bazar.
This ongoing initiative aims to ensure sustainable development in water resource management. UNO Aminul Islam emphasized that releasing fish fry will enhance local fish resources, protect biodiversity, and benefit ordinary fishermen. The government is committed to increasing fish production and safeguarding water resources.
