Sylhet: Around 500 Bangladeshi students will have the opportunity to pursue higher education at no cost at various universities in Pakistan through the Bangladesh-Pakistan Knowledge Corridor initiative. The announcement was made during the Bangladesh-Pakistan Education Expo held at Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST).
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the expo, which took place for the second time, was inaugurated by Pakistan High Commissioner to Bangladesh Imran Haider and SUST Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. AM Sarwaruddin Chowdhury at the university’s new Social Science Building. The event saw participation from representatives of 22 leading Pakistani universities alongside SUST faculty and officials.
During the expo, SUST signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with a Pakistani university and a Memorandum of Interest (MoI) with another. High Commissioner Imran Haider, during his speech, noted that the initiative had garnered positive responses from both students and academics, indicating its potential to enhance educational and cultural relations between Bangladesh and Pakistan. He emphasized that the programme aims to create a platform for knowledge and cultural exchange between the two nations.
Professor Dr. AM Sarwaruddin Chowdhury, the SUST vice-chancellor, highlighted the importance of international cooperation in higher education and research in today’s world. He expressed optimism that initiatives like these would open new opportunities for students on a global scale.
