Dhaka: Five meritorious students from different departments of Dhaka University have been awarded the prestigious 'Suruchi Bala Pal Trust Fund Scholarship' in recognition of their academic excellence. A cheque handover ceremony was held at the Vice-Chancellor's office meeting room, where DU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Niaz Ahmed Khan attended as the chief guest and presented the scholarship awards to the recipients, a DU press release stated.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, DU Treasurer Professor Dr. M Jahangir Alam Chowdhury chaired the event. The ceremony was graced by the presence of Professor Dr. Mahmud Osman Imam, Dean of the Faculty of Business Studies, and Professor Dr. Mohammad Taufiqul Islam, Chairman of the Management Department. Also in attendance were Associate Professor Saifuddin Ahmed, Proctor, Munshi Shams Uddin Ahmed, Acting Registrar, and Dr. Tapas Chandra Pal, the donor of the Trust Fund.
The recipients of the scholarship are Md Ibrahim Sohel from the Department of Management, Tanmoy Hossain Siam from the Department of Economics, Md Shahriar Alam Emon from the Department of Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology, Stalin Chakma from the Department of Pharmacy, and Mehedi Hasan from the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering.
