5-Day ‘Jor Ijtema’ Commences at Tongi

Tongi: A five-day 'Jor Ijtema', a preparatory event for the Bishwa Ijtema, commenced today after Fajr prayers on the bank of the Turag river at Tongi.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the Jor Ijtema will conclude before noon on Tuesday, December 2. Habibullah Raihan, the media coordinator of Jor Ijtema organiser Shura-e-Nizam, Tabligh Jamaat Bangladesh (Jobayer faction), confirmed the details of the event. He mentioned that the Jor Ijtema is an annual event held approximately 40 days before the Bishwa Ijtema as part of the preparations.

During this gathering, Tabligh members, known as Chillah observers, from both home and abroad, have the opportunity to review their yearly work and receive guidance from senior members. Officer-in-Charge of Tongi West Police Station, Md. Harun-or-Rashid, stated that additional police forces have been deployed to ensure the security of the participating devotees. The gathering of the followers of Mawlana Jobayer Ahmed is set to conclude on December 2.
