482 Held in 24 Hours Across Dhaka in Major Police Operation

Dhaka: The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested 482 people in separate raids across the capital over the past 24 hours and filed 48 cases.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, a DMP press release issued Monday detailed that the arrests were carried out by various DMP units. The Ramna Division detained 34 individuals, Lalbagh Division apprehended 24, Wari Division captured 64, Motijheel Division held 87, Tejgaon Division arrested 67, Mirpur Division took into custody 114, Gulshan Division detained 33, Uttara Division captured 50, the Detective Branch (DB) arrested eight, and the Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) Division detained one.

During these operations, police recovered Tk 290,000 in cash allegedly generated from drug sales, in addition to seizing four music systems worth approximately Tk 230,000, five mobile phones, a knife, a CNG-run auto-rickshaw, 157 SIM cards, three motorcycles, one pistol, one magazine, one revolver, and six rounds of ammunition.

Further confiscations during the raids included 12 sickles, a baseball bat, a dasa (traditional cutting weapon), a dagger, a cutter, 7,699 yaba tablets, 65.5 kilograms of cannabis, nine ampoules of injections, and 22.5 litres of foreign liquor. The arrests and seizures were made during separate drives conducted in different police station areas of the capital.

Legal proceedings against the arrested individuals are underway.
