4,500 farmers get incentive for Aush farming in Lakshmipur

A total of 4,500 small and marginal farmers in Sadar upazila of the district were given seeds and fertilizers free of cost as agro incentive under the agriculture incentive programme for the cultivation of Aush paddy in the current Kharif-1 season.

To increase the interest of farmers in Aush cultivation, the amount of incentive support and the number of farmers have been increased significantly in the current financial year 2022-23 in the district, Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) said.

Member of Parliament of Lakshmipur-2 constituency and District unit of Awami League (AL) General Secretary Nur Uddin Chowdhary Nayan inaugurated the distribution and handed over the incentive among the famers of the upazila as the chief guest this morning with Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Md Imran Hossain in the chair.

The distribution function was held at the Sadar upazila parishad hall room this morning.

Under the programme, each farmer was given five kilograms of high yielding variety of Ufshi Aush paddy seeds, 10 kg of Di-ammonium phosphate (DAP) fertilizers and 10 kg of Muriate of potash (MOP) fertilizers free of cost for cultivating one bigha of land.

Sadar Upazila Parishad Chairman AKM Salah Uddin Tipu, Sadar Thana Awami League President and UP Chairman of Char Ruhita union parishad Humayun Kabir Patwari and Upazila Agriculture Officer Md. Hasan Imam, among others, spoke on the occasion.
