Parbatipur: Nearly 4,000 metric tons (MT), equivalent to 4.7 million liters, of diesel have reached the Parbatipur Receiving Terminal Depot in Dinajpur. This delivery was facilitated through the India-Bangladesh Friendship Pipeline and marks the pipeline's 72nd consignment.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the transfer of diesel commenced at 9 AM on Sunday, September 13, and concluded this afternoon, September 15. The Operation Manager of the Dinajpur Parbatipur Rail Depot, Md Robiul Alam, confirmed the successful receipt of the diesel consignment.
The delivery is part of a 2018 bilateral agreement between Bangladesh and India, under which Bangladesh agreed to import approximately 2 million tonnes of diesel over a span of 15 years. Since the inauguration of the pipeline in March 2023, Bangladesh has imported a total of 330,087 tonnes of diesel through this cross-border infrastructure.
The imported fuel is distributed among three state-owned companies in Bangladesh: Padma Oil, Meghna Petroleum, and Jamuna Oil. The pipeline's Bangladesh section extends 126.57 kilometers, passing through the regions of Panchagarh, Nilphamari, and Dinajpur before reaching its destination in Parbatipur.
