Dhaka: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Baharul Alam has announced the recruitment of 4000 assistant sub inspectors (ASIs) prior to the upcoming national election. He made this statement while responding to queries after a meeting at the Ministry of Public Administration in Bangladesh Secretariat, which was convened to discuss amendments to the appointment rules.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the IGP elaborated that the recruitment process will see 50 percent of ASIs appointed directly, while the remaining 50 percent will be appointed through promotions. He emphasized that amendments to the rules are necessary, and the Ministry of Public Administration is actively addressing these changes to streamline the appointment process.
Baharul Alam confirmed that these appointments are indeed being expedited in the lead-up to the national elections, noting the Chief Adviser's recent agreement in principle to the recruitment of additional forces. This initiative aims to bolster the police force's capacity during the election period.
