Cox’s bazar: Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) seized 4,80,000 pieces of yaba alongside the Ukhiya border in Cox’s Bazar last night. BGB-64 commander in Ukhiya, lieutenant colonel Mohammad Jashim Uddin, confirmed the matter this morning.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the seizure occurred after the BGB received information about drug smuggling activities from Myanmar. In response, a BGB team strategically positioned themselves near the Katakhal area. Around 8:00 pm, the team observed a group of seven individuals near the Dam on the Bangladesh end. Upon detecting the presence of the BGB team, the drug peddlers quickly fled the scene, abandoning four bags at the location.
The BGB team subsequently recovered 4,80,000 pieces of yaba from these bags. A general diary has been lodged with Ukhiya thana regarding the incident, and the seized contraband has been handed over to the police station, as stated by the BGB commander.
