Dhaka: The four-day 38th National Age Group Swimming and Diving Championship-2026 concluded today with the creation of eight new national records. Organised by the Bangladesh Swimming Federation, the championship was held from July 11 to 14 at the National Swimming Complex in Mirpur, Dhaka, said an ISPR release this evening.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the closing and prize-giving ceremony was attended by the President of Bangladesh Swimming Federation and Chief of Naval Staff Admiral M Nazmul Hassan, who distributed prizes among the winners as the chief guest. A total of 20 swimming events were held on the final day, with swimmers setting eight new national records, marking a significant achievement in the championship's history.
The release stated that Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Protishtan (BKSP) dominated the medal table, securing 66 gold, 58 silver, and 55 bronze medals. Nikli Swimming Club of Kishoreganj followed with 14 gold, 10 silver, and 10 bronze medals, while Meghna Mohona Swimming Club captured third place with 11 gold, five silver, and 12 bronze medals.
In individual performances, Md Abdul Azim was named the best swimmer in the boys' 15-17 years age group after claiming 11 gold and two silver medals and setting seven records. In the girls' 13-14 years age group, Fatiha Mahtab Maisha stood out as the best female swimmer, winning 10 gold and one silver medal while creating four records.
In the diving segment, BKSP's Sayedul Islam earned the title of the best male diver after winning a gold medal, and Arpa Das was recognized as the best female diver, securing three gold medals and setting a new national record. Swimmers who set new national records were awarded a cash prize of Tk 5,000 each, the ISPR added.
