35,000 Liters of Furnace Oil, 9,000 Liters of Diesel Seized in Siddhirganj

Siddhirganj: In a joint operation by Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), National Security Intelligence (NSI), and the Narayanganj district administration has led to the seizure of a large amount of illegally stored fuel in Siddhirganj in Narayanganj.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the drive was conducted in the Godnail area and nearby Eidgah premises from 4:30 pm to 8:00 pm today, following intelligence provided by NSI. During the drive, authorities recovered approximately 35,000 liters of furnace oil from an abandoned factory in Godnail. In a separate action during the same operation, around 9,000 liters of diesel were seized while being transferred from an oil tanker into barrels near the Eidgah area. Subsequently, one was detained at the scene.

Legal proceedings, including fines and possible imprisonment, are currently underway. Authorities have instructed that the recovered fuel be stored at the nearby Meghna Petroleum Limited depot for further action. Officials from BGB stated that such drive will continue as part of efforts to ensure energy security and curb illegal hoarding and smuggling across the country.
