Dhaka: Teachers and students of the Faculty of Engineering and Technology at Dhaka University (DU) have been recognized with the prestigious Dean’s Awards. The awards ceremony took place at the university’s Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Building.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, 44 students from five departments of the faculty were honored with Dean’s Awards. In addition, 30 teachers received the awards for their contributions through research books published both domestically and internationally, as well as original articles in recognized journals.
The event was presided over by Professor Dr. Upama Kabir, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Technology, with DU Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Niaz Ahmed Khan attending as the chief guest. Pro-Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Saima Haque Bidisha and Treasurer Professor Dr. M Jahangir Alam Chowdhury also participated as special guests.
The ceremony featured a speech from Dr. Mobarak Ahmed Khan, a scientist renowned for inventing the golden bag and a former scientific adviser of Bangladesh Jute Mills Corporation, who spoke as the Dean’s Award speaker. Names of the student awardees were announced by the departmental chairmen, while Professor Dr. Upama Kabir announced the names of the honored teachers.
The event saw the attendance of deans from various faculties, department chairmen, institute directors, vice-chancellors, faculty members, and guardians. DU VC Professor Dr. Niaz Ahmed Khan expressed his satisfaction with the recognition of talent, highlighting the importance of community and collaboration in achieving success. He emphasized the need to balance academic pursuits with family life for a more enriched future.
