Rangpur: The joint forces have arrested three leaders and activists of Awami League and its associate bodies from the city during the ongoing Operation Devil Hunt (ODH) in the last 24 hours, ending at 6 am today. The detainees are identified as Union Awami League leader and Chairman of Ekorchali union parishad in Taraganj upazila Md Idris Ali, General Secretary of Kachari Bazar unit of Awami Jubo League Md Zaminul Haque Joni, and Jubo League leader and former Ward No 29 Councilor of Rangpur City Corporation Md Harun Ar Rashid.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, these individuals were arrested in connection with attacks on the anti-discrimination student movement processions, murder, and attempted murder in the district. Rangpur Metropolitan Police Media Cell confirmed the arrests.
The arrested persons were subsequently handed over to the police stations concerned, police said.
