Dhaka: A three-day photo exhibition has been organised at the Drik Gallery in the capital to commemorate the participation of women in the July uprising. A research organisation named “July Massacre Archive” has organized the exhibition which will run for three consecutive days starting from today.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the exhibition has been arranged keeping in mind the transformation from a quota-reform movement to a movement to overthrow autocracy. Titled “A Journey Through July,” it features various still images of women’s participation in the uprising.
A brief study of how the media in different countries of the world reported news during the “July Uprising” was also shown in the event. The most interesting aspect of the exhibition is the arrangement of similarities between the July Uprising in Bangladesh and movements in different countries of the world.
