Dhaka: A total of 27 journalists from various print, online, and electronic media outlets have been awarded the 'Nagad-DRU Best Reporting Award 2025.' The award ceremony took place at the auditorium of the International Mother Language Institute in Shegunbagicha, where the winners were presented with crests and prize money.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the event was graced by Finance Adviser Dr. Salehuddin Ahmed as the chief guest, with Kaiser Ahmed Chowdhury, Chairman of Nagad's Board of Directors, attending as the special guest. Md Motasem Billah, Nagad Administrator, was also present as the guest of honour. The ceremony was well-attended by members of Nagad's Board of Directors, eminent journalists, policymakers, and distinguished personalities from various fields.
In his address, Salehuddin Ahmed emphasized the critical role of journalistic responsibility and urged journalists to engage in investigative reporting to uncover deep truths and offer constructive criticism. He remarked, "Media is the reflection of the people's voice and feelings. Therefore, the responsibility of journalism is extremely large and important. Heartfelt congratulations to those who received awards today. However, those who submitted reports have also done extremely valuable work. Many quality reports deserve praise even if they did not receive an award."
The awards were determined from nominations submitted across 24 categories, selecting 27 best reports of the year. Notably, two categories resulted in joint winners. Reports published or broadcast between 01 September 2024 and 30 October 2025 were considered for nomination. The distinguished winners include journalists from prominent outlets such as The Daily Star, Jagonews24.com, The Business Standard, The Daily Sun, and many more.
The event was chaired by President of the Dhaka Reporters Unity (DRU) Abu Saleh Akon, with the welcome address delivered by DRU General Secretary Mynul Hasan Sohel. The jury board responsible for selecting the awardees was led by Shamsul Huq Zahid, editor of the English daily The Financial Express.
