Dhaka:Twenty-six players selected for the Bangladesh national hockey team have reported to the training camp at the Maulana Bhashani National Hockey Stadium. This preparation is in anticipation of the upcoming Asian Champions Trophy.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the tournament is set to take place in Jalandhar, India, from October 27 to November 5. The team's on-field training sessions will commence on Thursday under the guidance of local coach Shahidullah Titu, with the German coach Peter Gerhard expected to join by Friday.

Bangladesh Hockey Federation (BHF) joint secretary Ariful Haque Prince expressed optimism about the team's participation, emphasizing the significance of the tournament for providing players with exposure to top Asian sides. He remarked that competing in such a major event is a positive step for Bangladesh hockey, offering players the chance to face top teams and gain valuable experience.

Prince further noted that the tournament would help bridge the gap caused by a lack of international matches and provide the players with high-quality exposure. He highlighted the aim of improving performance and making progress on the international stage, with Bangladesh striving to strengthen its capabilities.

The BHF remains hopeful that the intensive training camp will enable the team to regain its best form and achieve positive results in the tournament.
