Cumilla:Police have detained 254 individuals during coordinated operations across the district targeting teenage gangs and delinquent youths.
According to United News of Bangladesh, the simultaneous raids were conducted in all 18 police station areas of Cumilla on Saturday night. The operations focused on various hotspots within Cumilla city and the surrounding upazilas where reports of juvenile gang activity had emerged. Senior district police officials actively participated in these raids.
Authorities are currently verifying the involvement of those detained in criminal activities before proceeding with legal actions. Additional Superintendent of Police Lutfar Rahman stated that the ongoing anti-teen gang operations are part of efforts to prevent teenagers from engaging in criminal activities. He emphasized that these drives will continue in the future to address the issue.
In a previous coordinated effort on September 24, police detained 624 teenagers and youths in the district. Of these, 174 were sent to jail or child development centers, while the others were released after providing undertakings.
