Mirpur: The Traffic Mirpur Division of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), in collaboration with the Dhaka Electric Supply Company (DESCO), carried out a significant operation in Mirpur, disconnecting 25 illegal electricity connections. This initiative was part of a broader drive against unauthorized power connections used to charge battery-run rickshaws in various parts of the city. Alongside the disconnections, officials seized 70 batteries suspected of being used in these illicit activities.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the operation was conducted on Tuesday night across several key locations in Mirpur, including Hajee Road, Dhaka Commerce College Road, Mirpur Zoo Road, and Al-Kamal Housing areas. The DMP press release highlighted that the coordinated effort aimed to curb the rising trend of unauthorized electricity usage, which poses safety risks and contributes to power theft.

Members from the respective police stations and the POM Force played a crucial role in assisting the operation, ensuring its success and efficiency. The operation reflects the authorities’ commitment to enforcing regulations and maintaining public safety in the city.
