Lakshmipur: Twenty-four young individuals in Lakshmipur have been appointed as police constables after a transparent recruitment process that required them to pay only a Taka 120 application fee. The announcement of their new positions was met with overwhelming emotions as successful candidates and their families expressed joy and gratitude.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the recruitment process involved thorough verification and selection, which took place over two days from August 14th to 15th. A total of 910 job seekers from various upazilas in the district applied for the constable positions. After the initial selection, 221 candidates participated in a written examination on August 29. Out of these, 47 candidates were shortlisted, and following an oral examination, the final results were announced, confirming the selection of 24 candidates.
Superintendent of Police Md. Akhter Hossain emphasized the integrity of the recruitment process, stating, "The meritorious and qualified candidates have been evaluated on the basis of transparency in accordance with all the rules. We have only worked to ensure the eligibility of the qualified candidates." He further added that the district police aim to dismantle the prevailing notion that securing a police job involves bribery and lobbying. "We want to change that idea. We have to build a new country with accountability, transparency, and fairness. Everyone has to work together in this regard," he concluded.
