Noakhali: At least 24 shops were completely destroyed after a devastating fire broke out on Tuesday night at Bhuiyar Hat Bazar in Subarnachar upazila of the district, causing significant financial loss.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, local sources and fire service officials reported that the blaze erupted around 1:30 am at a shop located on the southern side in Charbata union. The fire quickly spread to adjacent establishments, fueled by closely packed structures and flammable materials.

Two units from the Subarnachar Fire Service Station responded promptly to the emergency and managed to bring the fire under control by 3:30 am. Local sources suggested that the fire might have been triggered by an electrical short circuit, and a full investigation is currently underway to determine the exact cause.

Former Charbata Union Parishad member, Alamgir Hossain, noted that the fire obliterated a variety of businesses, including a pharmacy, grocery shops, a pesticide store, a CNG auto-rickshaw garage, and several warehouses. A local businessman estimated the total damage to exceed Taka one crore.

Subarnachar Fire Service Station Officer Rubel Mia stated that a detailed investigation would confirm the final estimate of damages.
