230,000 Pieces of Yaba Seized at Ukhia-Teknaf Border by BGB

Ukhia: Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has seized 230,000 pieces of yaba in separate anti-drug operations at Ukhia-Teknaf border areas of Cox’s Bazar district. A patrol team of Jimbangkhali BOP of BGB’s Ukhia Battalion (64 BGB) recovered 10,000 pieces of yaba and a local weapon during a raid conducted this morning.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, another patrol team of Hoi Kyung BOP seized 20,000 pieces of yaba in a separate raid at the border area. Additionally, a special operation by Hnila BOP resulted in the recovery of 200,000 pieces of yaba. The estimated value of the seized drugs is around Tk 3 crores.



In the past month, 3,900 kg of fertilizer was seized, and six individuals were arrested in separate operations in Hoi Kyung of Teknaf and Palangkhali of Ukhia. Regular cases have been filed against the arrested individuals, who have been handed over to the nearest police station.



Lieutenant Colonel Md. Zahirul Islam, Commander of Ukhia Battalion, stated that BGB is maintaining a strict stance not only in protecting the border but also in preventing drug trafficking and smuggling. He assured that such operations will continue in the future.
