Dhaka: A total of 212 people, including members of juvenile gangs and individuals involved in various criminal activities, were arrested in special drives conducted by the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) in the Mirpur and Tejgaon divisions of the capital.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the operations were carried out on Friday in different crime-prone areas as part of efforts to ensure public safety and curb narcotics, extortion, and terrorism. Police sources revealed that 103 people were arrested in Mirpur Division, 66 in the Tejgaon Division, while another 43 were detained in a separate special drive conducted by Mirpur Model Police Station.
During the drives, law enforcement officials also recovered various types of narcotics and locally made weapons from the possession of those arrested. All arrested individuals were subsequently sent to the concerned courts after legal procedures were completed.
