Dhaka: Health officials today reported the detection of 21 new cases of dengue in the past 24 hours. "We recorded 21 fresh cases of dengue onslaughts in 24 hours ending at 8 am today," a spokesman of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) stated.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the DGHS statement detailed that out of the 21 new cases, eight were hospitalised in Barishal division, six in Chattogram division, two in the Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC), one in the Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC), two in Khulna division, and two in Mymensingh division.
Since the beginning of this year's dengue outbreak in Bangladesh, the disease has claimed three lives and affected 1,203 individuals. In comparison, last year, dengue resulted in 413 fatalities and affected 102,861 people across the country. The following year, in 2024, the number of deaths was higher at 575, with 101,214 people affected.
