BNP leaders Habib, Dipak land in jail in sabotage case

A court here today sent BNP central leader Habibur Rashid Habib and Jubo Dal sports affairs secretary Abul Mansur Khan Dipak to jail as they surrendered in a sabotage case filed with the capital's Paltan Model Police Station. Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Akteruzzaman passed the order as Habib and Dipak, convicted and sentenced in absentia to two years in jail in the case, surrendered before the court and pleaded for bail. The ruling Awami League (AL) has issued an directive asking the family members and relatives of the ministers and AL lawmakers not to contest in the upcoming upazila polls and take part in the election campaign.
