Cox’s Bazar: The bodies of two madrasa students, who went missing while bathing in the sea at Teknaf upazila in Cox’s Bazar, were recovered in the early hours of today. The tragic discovery occurred in the Lengurbil Lambarighat area of Sadar union under Teknaf upazila around 8 am, as confirmed by Muhammad Gias Uddin, the officer-in-charge (OC) of Teknaf police station.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the deceased were identified as Nazrul Islam, 12, and Imran Hossain alias Babul, 13. Nazrul was the son of Md. Nazir Ahmed, and Babul was the son of Korban Ali, both from Khunkar Para under Sadar union of Teknaf upazila. On Sunday, a group of 10 to 15 children were bathing in the bay at Teknaf Sadar when three boys were suddenly swept away by the current.
Local residents and eyewitnesses reported that upon hearing the cries for help, they rushed to the scene and managed to recover the body of 10-year-old Nur Kamal. Unfortunately, Nazrul and Babul remained missing after the incident. In response, a coo
rdinated rescue operation involving the police, Coast Guard, Fire Service personnel, and local fishermen commenced at various points along the coast.
The search was temporarily paused after dusk, but relatives of the missing boys continued their efforts. Eventually, the bodies were spotted floating in the sea in the Lengurbil Lambarighat area by the relatives, and with the help of locals, the bodies were recovered. The OC stated that the bodies have since been handed over to the grieving family members.
