2 killed in separate road accidents in city

Two persons were killed in separate road accidents in Dholeswar area of Kadamtali Thana and Faridabad area of Shyampur Thana in the city in the last 24-hour.

The deceased were identified as Shahabuddin, 31, a van driver and son of Mokhlesur Rahman, a resident of Sardar Para village under Senbagh upazila in Noakhali district and businessman Korban Bepari, 32, a resident of Naria upazila in Shariatpur district.

Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) police camp-in-charge Bacchu Miah confirmed the matter to BSS today.

Shahabuddin's relative Anisur Rahman said that he (Shahabuddin) was seriously injured when a speedy truck hit his van at Dholeswar area around 11 pm on Saturday.

Later, he was taken to DMCH where he succumbed to his injuries, Anisur added.

In another incident, a truck hit Korban Bepari's motorcycle in front of the Faridabad school, leaving him critically injured, said Sadikur Rahman, the elder brother of Korban Bepari.

Korban was rushed to the DMCH where the duty doctor declared him dead around 1.45am today, Sadikur added.

DMCH police camp-in-charge Bacchu Miah said that the bodies have been kept in DMCH morgue for autopsy.
