Rangpur: Two candidates were apprehended during the written examination for the position of 'Assistant Food Inspector' in Rangpur, as they were discovered using electronic devices to cheat. The arrests took place at two different examination centers within the Haragachh Metropolitan police station area, according to Haragachh Metropolitan police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md Azad Rahman.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the incident prompted Executive Magistrate Ashim Kumar Das to promptly arrive at the examination center and conduct a mobile court session. The magistrate sentenced the two candidates to 20 days in jail each for violating government orders and engaging in forgery under Section 188 of the Penal Code 1860. Subsequently, the police transferred the individuals to Rangpur Central Jail.
The OC further explained that the Food Department recruitment examination was conducted across 77 centers in the city. The apprehended individuals, Idris Ali Akand and Sajjadul Islam, were caught at the Mainakuti Senior Alim Madrasa center and Gulalbudai High School center, respectively. During the examination, suspicions arose among the inspectors on duty, leading to a search that unveiled the concealed electronic devices in the candidates' ears.
