A Chapainawabganj court on Sunday afternoon sentenced two persons including a woman to life-term imprisonment in a drugs case.
The convicts were Kajal, 38, son of late Taimur Master of Dariapur under Chapainawabganj municipality and Morium Begum, 30, wife of Yunus Ali of Mohishalbari under Godagari upazila in Rajshahi district.
The court also fined Kajal Taka 50,000,in default, he will have to suffer two years more in jail and Morium Taka 10,000, in default have to suffer one year more in jail.
Senior Session Judge of Chapainawabganj Md. Adeeb Ali gave the verdict in presence of the convicts.
According to the prosecution story, members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) on a tip off conducted a raid at the house of Kajal on September 8, 2020 and arrested the duo with 775 grams of heroin.
Sub-inspector Din Mohammad of RAB-5 filed a case with Chapainawabganj Sadar Police Station against them the next day.
After investigation the investigating officer (IO) of the case Sub-inspector Md. Alamgir Kabir submitte
d charge sheet against them to the court on September 30, 2020.
After a long hearing the court handed down the punishment, court sources added.
