2 Chattogram Establishments Penalized for Expired Medicines and Adulterated Food

Chattogram: The Directorate of National Consumer Rights Protection (DNCRP) in Chattogram has taken action against two business establishments, KB Healthcare and Bismillah Mejjan, for their involvement in selling expired medicines and utilizing harmful chemicals in food products.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, a recent operation was carried out in the Kalamia Bazar and Shah Amanat Bridge areas of the city. During this operation, the owner of KB Healthcare faced a fine of Tk 20,000 for the use of expired reagents and the sale of expired medicines. Similarly, the owner of Bismillah Mejjan was penalized Tk 20,000 for the utilization of harmful chemicals and artificial colors in their food offerings.

DNCRP Assistant Director Md Anisur Rahman stated that the fines were imposed due to confirmed irregularities under the Consumer Rights Protection Act. He further warned that stricter actions would be enforced in the event of any future violations.
