19 Shops Destroyed in Fire at Jaliapara Bazar

Khagrachhari: Nineteen shops were destroyed when a fire broke out in the Ismail Market area of Jaliapara Bazar in Guimara Upazila of Khagrachhari during the early hours today. The blaze consumed the entire market, leaving the shop owners in distress.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, upon receiving the alert, two fire service units from Ramgarh and Matiranga rushed to the scene. With the assistance of local residents, they managed to bring the fire under control. Unfortunately, by the time the fire was extinguished, all 19 shops had been reduced to ashes.



The shop owners estimate the loss to be at least Taka 2 crore. The affected establishments included a variety of businesses such as oil shops, motor garages, hotels, furniture, electronics, and grocery stores. Although the precise cause of the fire remains undetermined, there is speculation that it may have started due to an electric short circuit.



UNO Irin Akhter has stated that the upazila administration will extend all possible support to those affected by the incident. She also acknowledged the prompt response and efforts of the Hill VDP and VDP members in managing the situation.
