Chattogram: Chattogram Custom House and Chattogram Port Authority have destroyed 19 containers of hazardous goods that had been lying at the port for a long time. The disposal took place on October 25 and 26, involving 16 containers of uncoated calcium carbonate, one container of orange emulsion, one container of sweet whey powder, and one container of skimmed milk powder.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Chattogram Customs House and the National Board of Revenue (NBR) announced on Tuesday that the destruction was carried out to eliminate security risks posed by abandoned cargo. In addition to this, four highly flammable containers, stored at the port for 14 years, were also recently removed.

To address container congestion, the NBR has ordered an inventory of approximately 6,069 containers (around 10,000 TEUs) for auctioning. A significant portion of this inventory process has been completed, and several containers have already been auctioned off.
