186 Bangladeshi Nationals Evacuated from Iran to Arrive in Dhaka

Dhaka: An evacuation flight from Baku, Azerbaijan, carrying expatriate Bangladeshi nationals evacuated from Iran, is expected to arrive at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 1:30 am on Saturday. State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shama Obaed Islam and Foreign Secretary Asad Alam Siam, among others, are expected to be at the airport to receive the evacuees.



According to United News of Bangladesh, the government of Bangladesh expressed its appreciation to the governments of Iran and Azerbaijan, as well as to the International Organization for Migration (IOM), for facilitating this repatriation process. In light of the ongoing conflict situation in the Middle East, 186 Bangladeshi nationals departed from Baku on Friday for Bangladesh following their evacuation from Iran.



The evacuees crossed the Iran-Azerbaijan border by land and are currently en route to Dhaka on a special flight operated by Biman Bangladesh Airlines from Baku, Azerbaijan, said the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The Ministry, with support from the Ministry of Expatriates Welfare and Overseas Employment, Bangladesh Missions in Tehran, Ankara, New Delhi, and Geneva, and Biman Bangladesh Airlines, has carried out this emergency evacuation.
