Naogaon: A total of 1,785 farmers in Moniari union under Atrai upazila of the district will receive farmer cards in the first phase under an electoral pledge of the BNP government. Deputy Director of the Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE), Naogaon, agriculturist Md Manzur Rahman, has confirmed that the nationwide farmer card will be distributed on October 1.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the cards will be distributed among the farmers of Patishar Block of Moniari union at a programme scheduled to be held at Kacharibari of Rabindranath Tagore at Patishar. The Department of Agriculture has ensured that 100 percent of the farmers in Patishar Block have been included in the farmer card programme. Bank accounts have been opened in the names of all 1,785 farmers at various banks.
The department stated that the farmers will receive financial assistance provided by the government directly through these bank accounts. The initiative aims to gradually bring all farmers in Naogaon under the programme, providing them with necessary financial support.
