1,719 Cases Filed Against Traffic Violators in Dhaka

Dhaka: The Traffic Division of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has taken action against 1,719 traffic law violators during a day-long operation across various areas of the capital. The effort was aimed at maintaining order on the city’s roads.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the operation was confirmed by Deputy Police Commissioner of the Media and Public Relations Division, N. M. Nasiruddin. The drive saw the highest number of cases, 422, in the Motijheel division, followed by 260 in Mirpur, 243 in Wari, 238 in Uttara, and 169 in Tejgaon. Additional cases were reported in Lalbagh with 162, Gulshan with 145, and Ramna with 80.



The operation targeted different types of vehicles, with motorcycles being cited most often for violations in several divisions. In Motijheel, the cases encompassed buses, trucks, covered vans, CNG-run auto-rickshaws, and motorcycles. Apart from issuing cases, officials also took action by dumping 395 vehicles and wrecking 133 vehicles.



DMP officials indicated that such operations would continue regularly with the intention of reducing traffic congestion and ensuring road discipline across Dhaka.
