Dhaka: Health officials today said they recorded 17 fresh cases of dengue onslaughts in the past 24 hours.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, a spokesman from the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) reported that these new cases were observed in the 24 hours ending at 8 am today. The breakdown of the cases includes five individuals hospitalised in the Barishal division, one in the Chattogram division, four in the Dhaka division, and one case each in the Dhaka North City Corporation and Dhaka South City Corporation. Additionally, three new cases were recorded in the Khulna division.
Since the onset of the dengue onslaughts this year, Bangladesh has reported four fatalities and 1,616 cases. In comparison, last year saw 413 deaths and 102,861 cases. Projections for 2024 indicate a rise, with 575 fatalities and 101,214 cases anticipated.
