Chattogram:Chattogram City Corporation (CCC) Mayor Dr. Shahadat Hossain has announced plans for a scenic 15,000-square-foot playground at the historic Madarbari Balu Math. The development will include a road and an attractive walkway for pedestrians, aiming to enhance the environment in the area.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Dr. Hossain made the announcement during a visit to Madarbari Balu Math, where he addressed local residents and leaders. He emphasized that legal plot holders will remain undisturbed, but encroachment on the designated playground area will not be permitted.
The project is part of a broader initiative to establish 41 playgrounds across the city's 41 wards. Development work is already underway at several other locations, including Halishahar Shishu Park ground, Haji Mohammad Mohsin College ground, Bakalia Stadium, and Bakalia School ground. Additionally, the renovation of Agrabad Jamburi ground is nearing completion.
The mayor highlighted the importance of playgrounds in combating issues such as drugs, terrorism, and disorder, noting that children in Madarbari have been deprived of play opportunities due to the absence of such facilities. He stressed that playgrounds are crucial for keeping young people away from criminal activities, including online gambling and involvement in juvenile gangs.
The visit was attended by former general secretary of Chattogram Metropolitan BNP Abul Hashem Bakkar and former councillors Zainal Abedin, Mozammel Haque, and Ziaur Rahman Zia, along with other local leaders.
