Dhaka: A Dhaka court today granted three days’ remand each for 15 accused arrested in a case for allegedly planning sabotage and terrorist activities in the capital’s Bashundhara Residential Area marking August 15. The accused are: Motalib, Mehjabin Akter Mala, Rubel, GK Masud, Ontor Miah, Ramjan, Mamun, Mithu alias Amir Hossain, Abdur Rahman alias Abdullah, Sumon Miah, Arif Miah, Mostak Miah, Sayem Hossain, Jahid Hasan, and Shahin Hossain Emon.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Kamal Uddin passed the remand order this afternoon. The arrests followed a police raid on the night of August 13, where 52 individuals were detained from a second-floor flat of a house on Road No 28 in M-Block of Bashundhara Residential Area, under Bhatara Police Station. The following day, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Ariful Islam sent the arrested individuals to jail.
Meanwhile, the investigating officer of the case requested a seven-day remand for 15 of the detainees to facilitate a thorough investigation into the alleged plot. The court had scheduled today for the hearing on this remand plea, which resulted in the three-day remand being granted.
