Dhaka: Fourteen shops were gutted in a fire at Hajiganj upazila of the district early this morning. The fire originated from an electric short-circuit of a shop at the municipal market in Station Road area around 1 am and soon engulfed the adjacent shops.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, firefighters from Hajiganj Fire Station rushed to the spot and brought the fire under control after two hours of frantic efforts. Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Hajiganj Police Station, Mohammad Mohiuddin Faruk, confirmed the matter, saying, “A force was immediately sent to the spot after receiving the news of the fire incident.”
