Naogaon: A total of 14 dealers were appointed for the Open Market Sale (OMS) at Atria upazila of the district through a lottery held at the upazila parishad meeting room this morning. The lottery process was conducted with the participation of 43 applicants from eight unions in the upazila, ensuring transparency and accountability in the selection of dealers.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Rakibul Hasan presided over the event and emphasized that there was no room for irregularities in the appointment process. He highlighted that the initiative aims to ensure food security for the poor and low-income residents of the area.
The event was attended by key local officials, including Upazila Food Controller Shamsunnahar, Agricultural Extension Officer Golam Rabbani, Upazila Secondary Education Officer Sheikh Abdullah Al Mamun, and Social Service Officer Sohel Rana, along with other local dignitaries.
The newly appointed dealers are tasked with selling rice at Taka 30 per kilogram and wheat at Taka 24 per kilogram, providing affordable staple foods to the community.
