Dhaka: Police arrested 14 leaders and activists of the banned Awami Jubo League and Chhatra League while they were allegedly preparing to join a procession in the city's Panchlaish area. The arrests took place around 12:30 pm on Friday at the Muradpur No. 1 Rail Gate area, as reported by Panchlaish Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge Mozammel Haque today.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, CMP Assistant Police Commissioner (Head) Aminur Rashid stated that the arrestees were active members of the banned organisations. A case has been filed against them under relevant sections of the Anti-Terrorism Act, 2009, as amended. The arrestees were subsequently produced before a court following legal procedures.
