Rajshahi: Three teachers and ten students from the Social Science Faculty of Rajshahi University (RU) have been awarded the 2025 Dean's Award, marking the first time this accolade has been presented.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the awards ceremony was held today in the Senate Building, with Vice-Chancellor Professor Md. Faridul Islam serving as the chief guest. He presented the awards to both the teachers and students. The event was presided over by Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Education) Professor Farid Uddin Khan, who is currently overseeing the role of Dean of the Social Science Faculty.
The ceremony featured special guests, including Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Administration) Professor Main Uddin, former Vice-Chancellor and former Dean of the Faculty Professor Muhammad Mizanuddin, and former Vice-Chancellor of Islamic University, Kushtia, Professor Rafiqul Islam. Professor Golam Kibria Ferdous, Chairman of the Department of Social Work, delivered the welcome address.
The award-winning teachers included Md. Arman Hossain, Associate Professor in the Department of Information Science and Library Management, who received the award for Best Article. Dr. Awal Hossain Molla, a Professor in the Department of Public Administration, was recognized for Best Book, while Dr. Pranab Kumar Panday, also a Professor in the Department of Public Administration, was awarded for Best Researcher.
The student recipients were honored for achieving top positions in their respective departments in the Bachelor's (Honours) examination. The students recognized were Mst. Nafisa Yasmin (Economics), Barsha Rani Mondal (Political Science), Antara (Social Work), Sanzida Farzana (Sociology), Rifah Rafia Bari (Mass Communication and Journalism), Razia Sultana Parul (Information and Communication), Momtaz Farzana Tithi (Public Administration), Jannatul Mawa Shin (Anthropology), Trisha Das (Folklore and Social Development Studies), and Ashraful Khan Foysal (International Relations).
In his congratulatory remarks, the Vice-Chancellor emphasized that the award not only acknowledges the recipients' academic excellence but also pays tribute to their teachers and families, enhancing the prestige of the university. He expressed his hope that the awardees would continue to strive for excellence through their intellect and creativity, achieving even greater accomplishments in the future.
The event was attended by chairpersons, teachers, and students from various departments within the faculty.
