Dhaka: Inflow of remittances witnessed a year-on-year growth of 13.9 percent, reaching US$1,826 million in the first sixteen days of December, according to the latest data of Bangladesh Bank (BB) issued today. This marks a significant increase compared to the same period last year, when the remittance inflow was recorded at $1,602 million.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the data highlights a substantial rise in the overall remittance sent by expatriates during the current fiscal year. From July to December 16, 2025, expatriates sent a total of $14,864 million in remittances. This is a notable increase compared to $12,740 million sent during the same period in the previous fiscal year.
The growth in remittance inflow underscores the significant contributions of expatriates to the national economy. The steady increase in remittances is seen as a positive indicator for the country's economic stability and growth. Bangladesh Bank continues to monitor these trends closely as part of its efforts to support and sustain economic growth through remittance inflows.
